Georgia Football Weekend 2018 – Week 4

This week we get deep into conference play. Teams in the Power 5 Conferences all working to position themselves for a conference title and possibly a playoff berth. At worst, most teams need to at least get those 6 wins to become bowl eligible. Georgia and Georgia Tech both have different aspirations but need to take care of business in these conference games before they face off with each other in about 2 months.

Georgia Tech vs #2 Clemson

This week the ACC competition gets a little deeper for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets will take on conference front runners Clemson. The Tigers are one of the top teams in the country and have National Championship aspirations. This will be Dabo’s boys first taste of ACC football this season. They are still working out their starting quarterback situation between veteran Kelly Bryant and hot shot freshman Trevor Lawrence.

In the past this a game that Georgia Tech would have been prime, to upset this national power. The Triple Option could take that more talented Tiger squad off balance and keep the Tech defense off the field. Clemson doesn’t seem to lose teams with lesser talent like they used to. I expect Marshall and the rest of the offense to put up some points, but Clemson may come close to covering that 16-point spread.
Prediction: Clemson 35 Georgia Tech 24

#3 Georgia vs Missouri

The Bulldogs ride out to Missouri this weekend and take on the 3-0 Tigers. Missouri has an high powered offense led by Senior Drew Lock, who is at the helm of the #4 passing offense in the country. This is a strength on strength match-up, with Georgia bringing in the country’s #2 scoring defense. Jake Fromm appears to have the UGA offense running on all cylinders.

As good, as Missouri looked this year they do not have enough firepower to match-up against loaded Georgia. There might be a few challenges but the Bulldog talent will be overwhelming against Missouri.
Prediction: Georgia 37 Missouri 17
