Georgia Football Weekend 2018 – Week 3

This weekend there will be a lot games canceled to Hurricane Florence. Georgia Tech probably wished that they got that kind of luck last week in South Florida. Good news for the fans around the state is that all of their teams are playing. This week appears to be one that both of the major fan bases will get to sit back and enjoy themselves.

Georgia Tech vs Pittsburgh

The Yellow Jackets had rough outing against the Bulls of South Florida last week. Special teams were the big problem for Tech as they gave up 2 scores in kickoffs. This week Paul Johnson’s team heads up to Pittsburgh for their first taste of ACC competition of 2018. The Panthers are coming off a 51-7 drubbing from Penn State.

The Jackets are going on the road again but should have an easier time this week. So far Pitt’s only win is a 33-7 victory over Albany. They don’t have the speed of South Florida or a defensive presence that will slow down this offense.
Prediction: Georgia Tech 37 Pitt 14

#3 Georgia vs Middle Tennessee State

After destroying South Carolina, the Bulldogs will be in Athens welcoming in Middle Tennessee State. The Raiders are 1-1 and will be facing 2nd SEC team so far this season. They took a 35-7 loss from Vanderbilt to open the season. The Dawgs looking as good as advertised, expect another blowout this weekend.
Prediction: Georgia 44 MTSU 0

#12 LSU vs #7 Auburn

In the national game of the week we will stay right in the SEC with a big match-up between Auburn and LSU. Both teams knocked teams that were in the top 10 during week 1. Now these schools have an early season test to see where they are. In an always loaded SEC West this game can mean a lot for positioning down the line. Both of these teams have Alabama and Georgia on their schedule later on in the season. A loss here can be a major blow to somebody trying to make a push to the SEC title game.

This will be a strength against strength match-up. The always tough LSU defense will to put the brakes on Gus Malzahn’s high powered offense that has Jarrett Stidham back at the trigger. If the loss is lopsided for either coach their name will instantly go into the Hot Seat conversation. That is particular for LSU’s Ed Orgeron who has not had the breakout success that the program has come to expect.
Prediction: Auburn 28 LSU 17
