Georgia Football Weekend 2018 – Week 5

The college football season is creeping up to the halfway point. Teams all over the nation are trying to compete to allow themselves an opportunity in January. Georgia Tech is hoping that they can stop the slide of a season that is getting away from them. Georgia is living life as a favorite, getting every team’s best shot.

Georgia Tech vs Bowling Green

After suffering their 3rd straight loss, the Yellow Jackets are back in Atlanta taking on Bowling Green. The Falcons from the MAC Conference are also 1-3 and would like to see their season get on track. This game is a good chance for Paul Johnson’s team to build some confidence with the rest of their ACC schedule still looming ahead. This is also a chance for Tech to get another look at back quarterback Tobias Oliver. With the offense seeing struggles at times it could move that Tech makes later on in the season.
Prediction: Georgia Tech 40 Bowling Green 14

#2 Georgia vs Tennessee

Georgia is taking on SEC East rival Tennessee. A game that in the past used to help decide the fate of the division and possibly the conference has changed into possible spoiler game for one of the schools. The Volunteers come to Athens led by 1st year head coach Jeremy Pruitt, who was the Dawgs defensive coordinator 2 years ago. Tennessee is 2-2 this season and coming off a blowout loss to Florida.

The Bulldogs are coming off a big road win against Missouri. The Tigers tried to make a game of it late but Georgia with its depth and offensive talent overpowered the Mizzou. Expect more of the same this week. Tennessee does have talent, but the Georgia offense will be a little overwhelming. The gamblers have the Bulldogs as 31-point favorites, that should probably hold close to true.
Prediction: Georgia 49 Tennessee 17

#4 Ohio State vs #9 Penn State

In the national game this week we have the Big Ten’s best hopes at making the playoff facing off. Ohio State will be heading up to Happy Valley to take on the Nittany Lions. Both teams are 4-0 and ranked in the top ten. Ohio State has Urban Meyer back in his 2nd game off his suspension. These teams are absolutely loaded and fans should expect some offense fire works in this primetime contest.

If you haven’t had a chance to see Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins this will be a good introduction. He is on fire this season with 16 touchdowns and only 1 INT through the first four games. Only a sophomore this kid at 6-3, 220 may not be in college after next season. Penn State also has its own electric player in wideout KJ Hamler. A threat to score every time he touches the ball, be on the look out for him in the return game as well as on offense. This game promises fireworks and will probably deliver. Penn State is favored at home but not sure if their defense can hold up against the Buckeyes.
Prediction: Ohio State 37 Penn State 34
