Georgia Football Weekend 2018 – Week 7
The college football season is beginning the 2nd half and in a week or 2 we will see the first look at the playoff standings. Right now, Georgia controls their own destiny and if the Dawgs keep winning they will get back to where they left off. Tech got a big conference win last week and needs to find 3 more wins for the rest of the season if they want to be bowl eligible. In the wacky world of college football anything can happen, and this could be a very interesting weekend.
Georgia Tech got its first ACC win of the season last week against Louisville. This week they a little stiff competition at home against Duke. The Blue Devils only have 1 loss to Virginia Tech coming into this week’s contest. Paul Johnson would love to take down Duke who has beaten his Yellow Jackets 3 of the last 4 times these teams have met. This match-up has the potential to be a major shootout in Atlanta. Both teams average over 400 yards of offense per game. Duke is a little more balanced as Tech is running the dangerous triple option. As good as Tech looked offensively last week, they still tend to struggle on defense.
Prediction: Duke 40 Georgia Tech 35

The biggest match-up in the SEC this week is between Georgia and LSU. These 2 conference powerhouses rarely draw each other in the crossover scheduling. The Tigers will be looking to bounce back from their 1st loss of the season to Florida. Georgia coasted during last week’s homecoming game against Vanderbilt and are looking to stay unbeaten. This game should be very physical.
LSU looks to be the stiffest test the Dawgs have had so far this season. This is the beginning of the strongest part of their schedule as after this Florida and Kentucky are waiting. Like many Tiger teams of the past they have a strong defense that is anchored by a pretty good defensive backfield, which features standout corner Greedy Williams. The offense for Ed Orgeron’s team leaves a little bit to be desired. They can run the football, but their passing attack isn’t scaring many people. Georgia will have to get adjusted because Death Valley will be rocking but they also have a good defense and an offense that is averaging 41 points per game. The Dawgs should be able to hold strong on the road and keep their season on track to back at the SEC Title game.
Prediction: Georgia 31 LSU 17
