Georgia Football Weekend 2024 – Week 1
The 2024 College Football Season has officially begun. After last week’s games known as Week 0 we are finally at Week 1 and all the teams are officially back in action. The conferences have new faces and there is a whole new playoff look. It will be a busy weekend in the state of Georgia as all of teams will see action this week. How will Georgia Tech feel after stunning #10 Florida State last week and is Georgia ready to take back the throne as National Champions, after missing the playoffs last year? Here is a breakdown of the games.
The Saturday slate starts with a heavy-hitting match up with the #1 Georgia Bulldogs and the #14 Clemson Tigers taking on each other in a neutral site game at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This game will mean a lot for both teams who have playoff hopes. Coaches Kirby Smart and Dabo Sweeney are the country’s two most decorated active college football coaches. Each has 2 National Championships to their name and are both looking to be the heir to the Nick Saban throne.
Clemson has had a few disappointing seasons by their standards and is coming off a 9-4 campaign that saw the season end with a Gator Bowl victory over Kentucky. Georgia is coming off a 13-1 campaign that saw them lose for the first time in 2 years to Alabama in the SEC title game. That loss cost them a 3rd straight National Title opportunity. They return an experienced team that aims to return to the title game.
