Georgia Football Weekend 2017 – Week 9
The college football season is in full swing and teams are starting to think about where they will land in the postseason. The Bulldogs could be in playoff position if they keep doing what they are doing. Tech has only lost 1 game in the ACC so far and could be hard to beat if they keep this offense rolling. Then there is Georgia Southern who might want to start thinking about the next big coaching hire.
The Yellowjackets head up to Clemson to take on the defending National Champions in a primetime ABC match-up. Paul Johnson’s team is not ranked but probably should be considering their 2 losses are by a combined 2 points this season and have one of the most electric offenses in the country. The 7th ranked Tigers are still trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and will lean on their 7th ranked scoring defense to slow down the triple option. A lot of teams would be intimidated to go into a game like this, but Johnson’s Tech teams have been known to rise to the occasion. In his time in Atlanta Coach Johnson is 5-5 against Clemson.
The Tigers have looked very good this season but are vulnerable. This team will be wide awake though and are looking to bounce to their loss against Syracuse. Expect Tech not to fade away quick and to put up some points. This will be a lot closer than the 14-point spread that is on this game.
Prediction: Clemson 30 Georgia Tech 27

After a week off the Bulldogs head to Jacksonville, for the annual Cocktail Party against rival Florida. Now just looking strictly at rankings and numbers seems like an easy win for Georgia. That’s not taking into consideration this is a rivalry game and Georgia had major issues with Florida over the past 27 or so years. No Senior on the Florida sideline knows what it’s like to lose to the Bulldogs. On the flipside there is no upperclassman in Athens who knows what it’s like to stomp a Gator.
Kirby Smart knows that this game means more than any Georgia coach in recent history because he played in it. Georgia is currently sitting at #3 in the country and know they don’t want any stumbling blocks in their path to the SEC title game and possibly bigger. Now Florida having a crappy quarterback situation and multiple players suspended should work in the Dawgs favor. That being said, we have seen Florida trot out Treon Harris and beat Georgia before. Florida’s defense has talent, but Georgia has not had any issues running the ball against anybody. Jake Fromm appears to be the real deal and the spotlight has not gotten too big for him so far. Georgia’s stout defense that is 4th in the country in points allowed against this week Gator offense seems like an easy pick. This could be a week where Coach Smart can show the world why he was hired and Richt was moved aside.
Prediction: Georgia 27 Florida 10
