Georgia Football Weekend 2017 – Week 3
The football calendar is kind of light this weekend with only one of the state’s big programs in action. Georgia Tech has an unexpected week off due to the damage done by Hurricane Irma. The Yellow Jackets were scheduled to travel to UCF and face the Knights. The game will not be rescheduled as neither team could find a spot in their upcoming conference schedules that would allow the game to be replayed. Georgia Southern already was scheduled off this week as they also try to pick up the pieces on their own campus. That leaves the Bulldogs with the lone spotlight this weekend.
The Bulldogs are coming off a close win against Notre Dame in South Bend. Georgia enters Saturday 2-0 and now ranked number 13 in the nation. Kirby Smart’s team will now focus on a primetime match-up with Samford. Coincidentally Samford is also known as the Bulldogs. The school in Alabama plays in the FCS (Division I-AA), Southern Conference. They will come into Athens, on Saturday night with a 2-0 record.
It would be nice to give you a bunch of stats and reasons why UGA should be concerned with Samford but that won’t happen here. If you got a family member that plays for Georgia you should watch this game because they will probably get some playing time.
Prediction: Georgia 37 Samford 10
Watch On: SEC Network 7:30pm
