Georgia Football Weekend 11/5/16
This weekend Georgia and Georgia Tech will both try to inch their way closer to a term you will hear frequently called “bowl eligibility”. The Yellow Jackets are only one game away as they ride a 2 game winning streak heading into today’s match-up with North Carolina. The Bulldogs came up short last week against Florida and look to bounce back against SEC foe Kentucky who is having a pretty good season by Wildcat standards.
The Bulldogs hit the road this weekend up to the Bluegrass state. UGA will take on Kentucky in the primetime game on the SEC Network. The Wildcats are riding a 3 game in conference win streak and currently sit in 2nd place of the SEC East. They are powered their rushing attack that features the conferences 3rd and 8th leading rushers, in Stanley Williams and Benny Snell.
Georgia usually doesn’t have much trouble with Kentucky and if Kirby can his guys to stuff the run and make the Cats one dimensional they should be in good shape. That being said Florida doesn’t a monster passing attack and they handled the Dawgs this season. Even though Kentucky is 5-3 and 4-2 in conference they don’t have the best point differential, being a -2.4 for the season.
The Dawgs will try to get Nick Chubb going today and minimize the mistakes of their freshman QB Eason. They will also try to pressure Kentucky into relying on the arm Stephen Johnson. The Bulldogs are favored by 3 on the road.
Prediction: Kentucky: 24 Georgia: 17
Watch: SEC Network / 7:30 PM
Today the Yellow Jackets head up to Chapel Hill, NC to take on the ACC Coastal Division leading UNC Tarheels. North Carolina comes into this game ranked number 18 in the country and has their eyes on an ACC title game berth. Paul Johnson’s Yellow Jackets hit the road after 2 straight wins, against Georgia Southern the Blue Devils of Duke.
The Tech defense will have its hands full with junior signal caller Mitch Trubisky who is leading a strong passing offense where he has thrown 18 touchdown passes this season against just 2 interceptions. Carolina also can run the ball in an offense that is putting 32 points per game. The Tarheels have won the last 2 match-ups against Georgia Tech. All hope is not lost for Georgia Tech as they should be able to put up some points. The last few contests between these schools have been high scoring affairs and this one should be no different. Carolina is favored by 11 but the game should be a little closer.
Prediction: UNC: 37 Georgia Tech: 31
