Georgia Football Weekend 2017 – Week 11

The college football season is winding down and there is not a lot of room for error. For the Yellow Jackets to have hopes of a bowl game they need to pick up 2 wins the next 3 weeks. The Bulldogs have another challenge for the next 3 weeks and that’s to not slip up. They will be in Atlanta in a few weeks facing Alabama for the SEC crown and the top spot in the nation. Let’s take a look at each team before they meet each other in 2 weeks.

Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech

After a narrow loss to Virginia the Jackets will take on the other ACC team from the Commonwealth of Virginia as they face the Hokies. Paul Johnson’s team will try to leverage the home crowd in Atlanta as they take on the number 17 team in the country. The 7-2 squad from Blacksburg, is led by Josh Jackson at quarterback. Jackson is being hailed as the most electric signal caller for the Hokies since Michael Vick was on campus. Georgia Tech will have its hands full with a team that has a good run pass balance and one the stingiest defenses in the country. The number 4 scoring defense in the nation is only allowing 13 points per game. The Tech school from Virginia is only favored by 3 because they are on the road in this one.
Prediction: Virginia Tech 28 Georgia Tech 17

Georgia vs Auburn

The oldest rivalry in the deep south is a match-up of top ten teams. Number 2 Georgia heads down to face the 10th ranked Tigers of Auburn. The Bulldogs have locked up the SEC East and need to keep on winning if they want to remain the top team in the playoff picture. Auburn is on the outside looking in with 2 losses. They still have a shot at facing the Dawgs again in Atlanta if they can win this week and then beat Alabama the next.

The Bulldogs have been winning this year with a rock-solid defense that is only allowing 11 points per game and a rushing attack that is 9th in the nation. Can the Auburn defense slow down Sony Michel and Nick Chubb enough to force some throws from Jake Fromm? Kirby Smart in year 2 has really gotten the Georgia program looking good and appears ready play every week. The offensive mind of Gus Malzahn versus the defensive mastery of Smart could be the tipping point in this game.
Prediction: Georgia 24 Auburn 20
