Georgia Football Weekend 10/15/16

Georgia Southern Football

We missed you all last week with the weekend preview but we are back better than ever. It’s an interesting weekend in Georgia College Football as two of our teams are facing off against each other. Each one of these teams are on losing streaks and will be looking to get themselves back in the win column today.

Georgia vs Vanderbilt

UGAvsVandy

Today the Dawgs welcome the Commodores of Vanderbilt to Athens. The 2-4 team from Tennessee has not won an SEC road game under Coach Mason but that may mean they are about due. Vanderbilt has played teams really close this year with a strong defense and have been powered by SEC leading rusher Ralph Webb. Now Webb may be hampered by an ankle injury that forced him to leave the Commodores game last weekend.

Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs are coming off a scrappy win versus South Carolina that was powered by 3 running backs almost all running for 100 yards each. Nick Chubb appears to be back to form. The X-factor for UGA will be the performance of freshman quarterback Jacob Eason. If he can produce a better game than last week, then this should be on problem for UGA.
Prediction: Georgia 27 Vanderbilt 17

Georgia Southern vs Georgia Tech

GTvsGASO

The Yellow Jackets welcome in state foe Georgia Southern to Bobby Dodd Stadium at noon today. Both of these teams are on losing streaks and are going to try to right the ship. These two teams played against each other at Bobby Dodd 2 years ago where Tech squeaked out a close 42-38 win over the Eagles. Both of these teams are very different from that time but there are a few players that played in that game. Specifically, both quarterbacks will be familiar their opponent this weekend as they played in that last match up.

This game will feature 2 teams that have run dominated offenses. Both clubs will be utilizing option attacks that will keep each defense on their heels. Georgia Southern will have the 2 headed monsters at quarterback that they have employed the last three seasons with Favian Upshaw and Kevin Ellison. That combined with a stable of running backs gives them the number 6 rushing attack in the nation. Tech will be riding the hand and legs of Senior Justin Thomas who is the first quarterback in school history to pass for over 3,500 yards and rush for 2,000 in his career. Today neither team will be shy with the points.
Prediction: Georgia Southern 38 Georgia Tech 31
